Over the weekend I was helping a client choose a suitable estate to build his dream home. While driving from estate to estate we found some very poorly designed homes in different areas.
I explained to my client that you had to be very careful of developer's poor standard of design guidelines or you could end up living next door and be surrounded by poorly designed ugly homes that will ultimately bring the value of your home down with them. Things to remember are just because the developer is a large company, don't feel safe about what's going to be built in the estate. One estate comes to mind and their design guidelines are so poor they will be creating a future ghetto and this company has been selling housing estates for over 50 years. The best way for this not to happen to you is to engage a registered builder to look over the guidelines for poor design and second rate planning of the estate.
