Declutter before your Melbourne knockdown rebuild starts

The decision has been made – you are going to knock down your old, dated house and build a brand new one by Berstan Homes on your land.

Now you need to sort out 30 years of belongings and get rid of the bulk of it.

One of the easiest ways to reduce your “stuff” is have a garage sale. It’s all over in a couple of days (one to set up, one to sell) and you have made some money to put towards your new home build. Remember though, people are looking for bargain basement prices so don’t sell anything to valuable through a garage sale.

For pricier items, try gumtree or ebay and specify pick up only. This takes a bit more effort but some older ornaments can be collectable and reach surprisingly high prices.

Remember the Salvos and opportunity shops as well when you are having a clean-out. The Salvation Army will pick up large items and furniture.
